You can get migraines where the focal point is in the eye. I get migraines that blur the vision in my left eye. I'm diabetic but this is different from the blurry vision you can get before the diabetes is diagnosed or when your sugar is out of control, and I've gotten headaches like this with vision symptoms for more than a decade, long before I had diabetes. For me usually I'll see flickering lights in the outer edge of my vision and the blur will set in a few minutes later, sometimes with regular migraine pain and sometimes without. My sister, who is younger and not diabetic, gets the same migraines, but both eyes are affected.

I think that the doctors are thinking too narrowly. Think "muscle cramp" and not just eye cramp.

Is he getting enough calcium? what about his vitamin D and A levels? I would have his potassium levels checked as well.

Yeah, I've had ocular migraines about 3 times. No pain, but tunnel vision, swimmies, distorted vision, etc.

My head and eyes felt "funny" but nothing extreme or that I can pin down verbally.

He is low in vitamin D takes pills. Potassium levels were checked 6 months ago and they were fine, vitamin A not sure. I bought Systane severe dry eye drops and so far his eyes are feeling better. He's on the computer 8 hours a day for the type of job he has and 2 hours at night just web surfing. Maybe if he cuts down his computer time at home it will help.

The computer use will add to his eye strain, plus most people blink less when they are on the computer.

You can download a timer that will tell you to rest your eyes and focus in the distance, it's a good reminder.
