One summer I got strep about five times and used antibiotics all five times.
The fifth time my antibiotics did not work and I ended up in the hospital for 8 days because it moved into my kidneys. I have never been so sick in my life.
One of my daughter's band friends had it infect his heart and it caused permanent damage.
It isn't something I would ever ignore. I lost 25 pounds in two weeks.
I've had a history of sore throats from allergy issues all prior to 1995 and then the Pycnogenol and Grape Seed Ex has kept me from sore throats since. I've never had a strep throat and must be my constitution.
Ok.
Yes, it goes away without antibiotics.
The reason we prefer using antibiotics is to shorten duration and prevent complications (like rheumatic fever).
Second, you can have false positive strep test for a variety of reasons.
Don't know which issue you're dealing with.
Thanks Stan4 and Bluedevilz for the info. I knew ear infections don't need antibiotics, my kids never had strep so I didn't know this.
Apparently, pharmaceutical antibiotics are NOT the only antibiotics that work on strep throat.
There are foods that also have strong enough antibiotic properties to knock it out.
Several people with strep report having gotten rid of their infections by applying Cayenne pepper to it in various ways . . . https://www.earthclinic.com/cayenne-...ep-throat.html . Some used Apple Cider Vinegar along with Cayenne, and some used other things . . . but, Cayenne is tops in the reports made on that website!
Well I went to the doctor and they did a lab test swab. They said they would call me either tomorrow or the day after. He wrote me a script for “Z Pac” take it for 5 days than im done. Never really heard of a antibiotic like that.. does it work for strep?
Seriously -- you're looking for an opinion on an antibiotic prescribed for you by a medical professional, from a bunch of people you don't know on an internet forum, and who probably are no more capable of giving you an informed opinion than your barista at your local Starbucks??

And have you heard from the people who didn't get better, got worse, and ended up on dialysis or dying as a result? Where's the medical research showing that cayenne and vinegar can "knock out" a life-threatening staph infection?
I say no thank you to antibiotics for mild ear infections and sinus infections, but strep throat is not something I'd mess around with. If the lab test comes back positive, then take the antibiotics.
The strangest thing happened today... I went to my doctor to do a check up on my ulcer healing..
I told him I been having slight pain in my throat (When I had my cold 3 days before I had a HUGE sore throat) now its not to bad.. its been about 4 days now I have a sore throat but it feels better. Anyway he decided to do something called a "Rapid Strep Test" and I had my throat swabbed. With in 10 minutes he said you are POSITIVE for Strep Throat. It is so strange because I had so many friends who had strep and they were in so much pain they could not even talk. Mine only hurts a little when I talk, but nothing like before when I was having my cold.
Does strep throat go away without antibiotics, or do I HAVE to take them?
Because I would also not like to aggravate my ulcer with antibiotics if not needed to.
P.S I did NOT have the strep swab lab test done, only the the RAPID STREP TEST.
Thanks!
In as much as I embrace alternative, natural health modalities, as an adjunct, and sometimes a substitute for conventional medicine, I do not think strep is to be toyed with.
There are so many serious problems that can result from untreated strep. Please see your health care practitioner - MD, DO, NP or PA - and take the antibiotics that you are prescribed.
Discuss your concerns relating to your ulcer with your practitioner.
STREP is SERIOUS!
