For those that have experienced nerve pain from shingles, what's the best way you've done to cut the pain down? TENS unit? acupuncture? tonics/herbals? topicals? of course, the gold standard is pain medications, but which one works best for such nerve pain?
Are you talking about post-herpetic neuralgia or the pain DURING an active shingles outbreak? It may matter quite a bit. If the pain is on your face or around the eye, some products should not be used there.

I feel your pain. I had shingles in February and still have pain off and on, sometimes quite strong. I had the valcyclovir when shingles were active but nothing now .
I had shingles about 7 years ago. I had leg pain on my leg afterwards (the way the dermatome looped from my back around my thigh) for years. Especially when I slept on that side. I would wake up screaming in pain if I accidentally slept on it.
Then I went on a low-sodium diet for another condition (1,500 mg a day)
Shingles pain is gone. Vanished. Never to be seen again.
