I can't stand it when I hear someone refer to an obese person as naturally "big boned" or "large." No, people get that way because they have a bad diet and don't exercise.

I had started getting a little chubby once (needed to lose about 20 pounds), and I lost it by eating baked fish and chicken breasts, fresh vegetables, brown rice, and barley on a daily basis. I also mixed in 30 minutes of strenuous exercise every other day. Now I feel great, I'm as thin as I was in my early 20s, and my cholesterol dropped from 170 to 140.

When I see someone who is morbidly obese, I just don't have much sympathy as it's something that can be controlled. It isn't that hard to watch what you eat and jump on a treadmill now and then.

Hmmmm....but you sure did let yourself go for awhile there! Glad you had the moral strength to finally do the right thing - maybe you can start a blog for the morally bankrupt souls who choose to be unhealthy.

But shouldn't you really excercise EVERY day? Are you ONLY exercising to keep the weight off or to be truly healthy - you can always do MORE you know - you're cheating society by not doing Olympic-level workouts to truly be up to your full potential.

Feel even better having gotten that off your six-pack?

Now it's just simplistic sanctimony weighing you down.

Thanks for sharing?

Interesting that this same poster started this thread:

Have you ever noticed that the most sanctimonious people tend to be hypocrites?

I try not to judge others. It's hard sometimes, but I try to think "maybe that person has a medical condition?" or "what if they extreme diet and exercise all week long, and this is their one cheat day?"

I don't need to spread further judgment into the world. (People in glass houses and all....)

OP....enlighten yourself: 10 leading causes for obesity. Note, #1 is not food consumption, but genetics.

Nine reasons why obesity is not just a choice.

Everyone has overridden you OP, with absolutely spot on comments.

Now go off to a corner and stay there until you have learned your lesson.

A lot of judgement going on in this thread. Only thing I see to comment on OP's post is cholesterol is too low. We need higher cholesterol for so many body issues and for sure the brain and memory.

Many of those big boned people have a lot of big fat on top of the bones.

Yes, genetics can come into play. But, many times, a morbidly obese person has mental issues that cause the self-destructive behavior. Some people simply LIKE having extra on their bodies.....who knows?
