Alcohol will kill you faster than heroine if abused to excess. Providing that you don't OD, you can live for decades as a heroine addict. Even if you don't die of alcohol poisoning, if go through a half gallon of of whisky every day couple of days, you're liver will fail in just a few years.

Yes, alcohol is actually worse for you than heroine; however, alcohol is far easier to use in moderation. Only a small percentage of of users will literally drink themselves to death, where a much larger percentage of junkies will die as a direct result of their addiction.

Why are do heroin or drink every day your only choices? Why isn't not drinking or doing drugs an option?

This information may exist and read this way because heroin addicts are intercepted much more often prior to substance related death than alcoholics. Illegal drug users can be arrested and locked up for longer periods from possession, intent to distribute, or committing crimes to support the habit. Much shorter sentences imposed for alcohol-related crimes such as DUI unless death results or alcohol causes the person to commit crimes of violence that otherwise wouldn't have occurred.

Much less stands in the way of an alcoholic taking a drink as opposed to a heroin addict obtaining drugs.

"Who are these so called 'medical researchers'?" They are people who actually read and understand what they read.

The end result of excessive alcohol intake is alcoholic sclerosis. Scarring of the liver is the just the beginning of sorrows, because eventually your liver will cease to function. Humans can live on one kidney, but they have only one liver -- to lose.

Does heroin destroy the liver? Nope.

Just on that one level, it is easy to understand how alcohol is more harmful than heroin.

I'm boring . . . I have decided to skip both alcohol and heroin. Couldn't care less for either one of them.

Moderate use of either is probably the best tactic if you choose to indulge......that applies to any drug.

Agree, but there lies the rub: moderate use of highly addictive substances -- an oxymoron of sorts.

Besides the well known liver damage, alcohol kills brain cells every time we drink. Since we have millions of brain cells it's not THAT big a deal. But for the chronic drinker it causes pockets that fill with fluid. This is known as wet brain and it will lead to stroke and/or death. Autopsies show a brain that looks like Swiss cheese.
Heroin doesn't actually damage your brain cells.
Coke does but after a year damage caused coke goes away. Takes a year after you stop to start to feel normal again.
