Keep the potatoes. Organic is best. If you can't eat organic because of the price, then focus on the red potatoes, yukon golds and sweet potatoes. Just don't add the high fat stuff to them. You can also keep the bread. Just buy whole grain, minimal ingredients.

Most doctor's don't know much about nutrition. I would never rely on them to tell me what to eat.

Nothing wrong with potatoes. They are not causing high cholesterol readings. It's all the crap people add to the much maligned innocent potato that is the problem. And breads are not the culprit either. Focus on whole grains, minimal ingredients.
