Hi,

Is 2 weeks too late to treat a facial scar? So far, i've been treating it by keeping it clean, moisturized (w/Vaseline) and out of the sun but I'm wondering if I'm just wasting my time continuing to treat it 2 weeks later.

The injury is about the size of a thin toothpick and perhaps a bit more than an inch across. It appears light tan (almost white) on the inside but brown on the exterior.

I read that once a scar turns white then it's likely permanent since the melanin cells were severely damaged. My hope is that it goes away; at least the vast majority of it.

Thanks,

Found this:

Doesn't talk about timelines, but maybe the article has new suggestions you could try? A dermatologist visit might be helpful.

I remember years ago I had arranged to have a cyst taken off my nose. The doc directed me to protect my face from any sunburn for 2 weeks before the procedure. How much of a scar you form from something may be partly due to your skin's condition before it happened.

the scar will never "go away".
even if no one else notices it, you will.
since i'm a guy, scars are "cool",
so showing them is acceptable.
sometimes, i point out a scar....
since...as before...no one notices.
