Hi. Wow, this is an interesting thread. Just wanted to post that I picked up my progressive glasses at Costco 2 days ago. I am still getting used to them. The optician told me to point my nose at what I want to look at and lift or lower my chin a little until it comes into focus. I didn't wear them yesterday because my eye were bothering me just from strain and weather changes.
I will keep trying them. It seems that I will have to remove them while using my computer. The Optician said that I shouldn't have to do this but it's a medium distance and requires me to lift my head a lot to read the top of the screen.
You will get used to them after a while and will no longer need to take them off to use the computer if you stick with it. Usually for the first few days, I need to take regular breaks to give my eyes a rest. This is not unusual. I had a big improvement in my eyes in 2017 and it took me a few weeks to get used to my new lenses, to the point where I went back to the doctor to ask for a recheck. Once I got used to them, I used them for more than 2 years with no issue. My current ones were a minor change and it probably took about 4 days.
I am practicing in front of my computer with my progressives. I recently bought a new desktop, with a 23 inch monitor to make it easier to read the screen. It is easier to read, with my progressives off. Still can't imagine being able to read a computer screen while lifting my head up as much (the amount required to get the words into focus). Will keep trying and post back.

I can read my 21" monitor with progressives, but I have to tilt my head. Assuming you have "reading glasses" as part of your progressives, try buying a pair of readers at 1/2 the strength of your reading strength. Mine is 2.5 and I wear a 1.25 in front of the computer. it's much more comfortable and I don't have to move my head around to get the right angle.
My progressives have distance RX on top and no Rx on the bottom as I still do not require glasses for reading. This makes it easier to keep them on for driving, walking etc. But yesterday I took them off while reading a book because I had to bend my head down for too long. Today I am not wearing them as I write this because the computer screen is too close and I have to tilt my head up even to read a line which is about 2 inches from the bottom edge of the monitor. Not sure if the glasses could be made better as this is my first RX.
This is why I asked in this forum before buying them on line. Fortunately, I can go back to Costco and talk to the optician about it.
