I have had mild/moderate chronic neck pain for years. It finally occurred to me that part of this could be because of my pillow. I sleep on a $10 flat foam pillow that I've used for many years. I'm sure this pillow is causing some of my problems, it feels too low--i.e. the foam is flattened.

I want to get a special neck pillow, but there are so many choices. What are some good ones that people have liked for mild/moderate chronic neck pain? I think I have a pinched nerve in my neck that produces mild symptoms as well.

I've read many reviews about different pillows, but there are so many choices, it gets overwhelming. If anyone has some good suggestions, I'd love to hear.

I use a tempurpedic pillow. Rather expensive to buy alone but I got 2 of them that came with the tempurpedic mattress I bought. Then I had to buy one to leave at my son's house in another state. It cost $100 at Bed, BAth, and Beyond. I was shocked at the price. But I loved the ones I had at home so I bit the bullet and got it.

Since the post was bumped I'll comment.

I buy a pillow from Walmart - it isn't very expensive - about $7, think it's for side sleepers. I then have a medium filled queen sized pillow which I put between my legs. I find this works better then a body pillow. I use a couch pillow under my arm.

With my hubby, he likes the smaller 12x12 pillow which I buy in the fabric department of Walmart - it's one of those pillow forms where you make your own case.

I use a "Sleep Innovations" pillow that I bought at Sears. Before having it I had neck pain, which disappeared after I started sleeping with this pillow.

The best pillow for your neck might be a water pillow, it is adjustable to your ever changing needs for relief from neck pain. Chiropractic clinics sell them and I think you can get them online.

Seriously though, have your tried sleeping without any pillow at all? I found that after major surgery on my neck my neck pain was relieved when i didn't use a pillow at all for a few days.

A zippow pillow does a good job being a borderline neck pillow/ neck brace. It holds the neck more straight.

I used to roll up a towel and sleep with that under my neck...then my sis made me a pillow shaped like a big dog bone...works well for a sore neck..almost instant relief.
