Sure. Hold your breath. If you do it long enough you'll either pass out or die, but either way you won't have the hiccups any longer.

I ask someone to scare me.

If no one is around to scare me, I close my eyes and breathe very, very slowly while concentrating on my diaphragm movement. If a hiccup interrupts this, I ignore it. Keep inhaling very slowly and steadily, and gradually releasing the air from my lungs, like letting air out of a balloon in a tiny stream.

Diaphragm spasm. Try taking a huge breath, and hold it as long as you can, repeatedly, to stretch the diaphragm. But if it's coming from nerve stimulation (phrenic nerve), then this won't work. See your doctor.

Fill a glass with water, bend over a bit, lean down over the glass and drink from the wrong side. Works like a charm.

I agree with those who mention distraction. I have helped many hiccup sufferers by simply asking them a random question of two, like what are the last 4 of your SSN, or what's your address etc.

They look at me weird and answer my question. Then I ask if their hiccups are gone. Works 99% of the time.
