Scientific literature contains a multitude of research studies linking homocysteine to poor health. Elevated homocysteine in Parkinson’s is thought to worsen oxidative stress on the neurons that produce dopamine, making them more easily damaged by environmental toxins. This video by Neurology Solutions Nurse Practitioner Jordan Harborth explains the correlation between homocysteine (Hcy) and neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.

I had a posted a person's personal story on one of his loved ones and this subject, B6 and Glutathione were discussed as advancing causes of P.D. Maybe some of you know of P.D. patients and want to share.

My one doctor started testing my homocysteine probably 10 yrs ago and levels were elevated, so I've been working on lowering the levels all these years.

Did the doctor recommend any drugs or vitamins or herbs to lower your homocysteine levels?

If you have mthfr genetics and tend toward an elevated or even just relatively high RBC Folate, taking a B Minus (only active B vitamin complex without any folic acid or folate) can lower homocysteine in some. If you want to try, don't take other sources of folic acid, and they put it in so many things these days (bread, cereal, so many supplements, etc).
