Exactly. It's so easy to manipulate the data re: vaccine effectiveness (or lack thereof). It's been done before, and it's being done now.

It doesn't matter if they can modify vaccines to catch up with variants. Because they still have to actually vaccinate people and that takes time. You are also going to have people who refuse to to vaccinated over and over and over for new variants unless you turn the country into a totalitarian police state.

Not really. While true, it will reduce the rapid spread and the severity.

Just like with influenza, partial immunity can be quite effective against severe outcomes.

Polls I have seen put the number at 60-70% who will get vaccinated in the US. Even less in the EU. Of course if a variant like the SA one catches fire here it won't really matter since the vaccines are 10 times less effective against it.
