The study that was presented comes with good intentions - to remind people that exercise is important - and it is, but this type of study is known as reductionism and it has its limitations.
Another example: There was once a study to see which meat was least likely to cause breast cancer, chicken or red meat. And the result was chicken but it was only slightly less likely to cause cancer. The problem with the meat study is it represents reductionism. It failed take into account the commonality of various meats - they all represent "animal protein". A somewhat less reductionist study would have compared those who eat animal protein with those who don't.
The best studies are large-scale, long term population studies, but they are rare because they're so expensive.
Medical science recommends 90 minutes of exercise per week, but I don't think that is nearly enough. You probably need at least an hour a day of moderate aerobic exercise, and more than that is better. I walk 2 hours a day when I have time, and that feels much better than one hour.
Of course, even ten minutes a day would be better than none.
It's news to me that inactivity can cause cancer. I know inactivity isnt healthy...but didn't realize it could lead to cancer. What doesn't lead to cancer?
I guess keep in mind that if you walk 45 min a day where sunscreen...otherwise you could get skin cancer.

Lack of exercise often leads to metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance, which leads to chronic inflammation, which leads to all the typical modern diseases -- heart disease, stroke, diabetes 2, certain types of cancer.
Inactivity is probably the most dangerous thing about modern life.
Going outside to walk everyday also makes it more likely you will have enough vitamin D, which helps prevent cancer.
Sunscreen with unnatural chemicals might actually cause cancer. If you have light skin, just try to cover it with clothes and a hat. In the past, they used umbrellas (parasols) to keep the sun off. Should still use them now.
Regardless - there are a lot of people that 45 (hell, 15) minutes of walking per day would do a ton of good.
That is my instinct as well, though I am not a scientist.
