Inverters are absolutely the best for keeping everthing aligned. I highly recommend them.

Physical therapy is helping me, but sometimes it is so painful I want to quit. The exercoses are ok, but when you lay down and they manipulate your muscles,OMG, bad bad pain. Yet I go home with more reach than when I went in.

I understand the pain that therapy brings out to those who take even a session or two. You just need to have focus and not be deterred by the pain dude. I also would like to recommend doing some aerobics using aerobic step bench. I was hesitant when I first tried and I even attempted to quit because of inexplicable joint pain I have gone through but I finished until the end of the instructional video that I have come to use.

I had a frozen shoulder about four or five years ago that is totally gone now in fact until I saw this thread I had forgotten about it. I had physcial therapy and it gradually went away. It was very painful during the therapy and ibuprofen or pain relievers don't seem to help at all. Good luck!

I'd been experiencing pain in my left shoulder region for several months immediately after receiving a tetanus shot and figured it was a result of the injection.

Finally went to the doctor and was sent for PT. I've had 4 sessions so far and have made some effort to do the assigned exercises and was strongly encouraged to use the arm as much as possible. I have seen some improvement in my forward range a motion, a little bit more in movement out to the side but still can not get my hand/arm behind my back at all (to tuck in my shirt or try and thread a belt through the loops. I think the PT is helping and I am sleeping a little better.

My doctor did prescribe Meloxicam for the pain. I was reluctant to try it since in the past year or so I've had strong stomach pains from taking ibuprofen or aspirin and acetaminophen does not seem to bring any relief at all. So far it has brought some relief and no stomach problems.

It is rather discouraging to think that it may be many months or even a year before the shoulder is once again fully functional. My insurance co. has allowed 12 treatments and in theory they might allow a few more if necessary. Most of the time the pain is just a low, dull ache but in PT when they really push things to the limit of my range of motion it does hurt and the ache is much more pronounced for about half an hour after each treatment.

I've finally learned to put on a shirt or jacket with my left arm going in the sleeve first but at my age changing a life long pattern has been hard to do. Getting out of them is harder, especially now that the weather is cool and I'm dressing in multiple layers.

The toughest thing is that I have 2 new young foster dogs who need to learn to walk nicely on a leash and I've always taught dogs to walk on my left, with the loop end of the leash over might right wrist and my left hand about 1/3 of the way down the leash being the main control. That's not easy now and when there is a sudden hard tug that yanks my arm far forward it's all I can do to hang on. And this is with fairly small dogs. So bigger dogs will be out of the question for me for a while.

OK, time for my last round of exercises before I call it a night.

In April I finally went to see an orthopedic surgeon and had an MRI done. He explained that I do have a torn rotator cuff (as well as the adhesive capsulitis) and it looks good for surgical repair. About a month after seeing him my shoulder began to improve quite a bit as the frozen aspect "thawed" and I gained back much of my range of motion and the discomfort level dropped.

I've decided not to have surgery at this time because after talking with two friends who both had it done I've learned that the recovery period is very long - about a year - and difficult. Each of my friends is married and it was their spouses who had to do most everything around the house and for them for several months. I'm single and it sounds as though I would need hired help most every day to do household chores and even to help care for me for several months.

My shoulder would have to get much worse before I would be willing to go through all that.
