i wondered the same thing.

i had been drinking 11 cups (as in 8 oz) of fluid a day, and it was too much. When i cut it back to 7-8 cups (as in 8 oz) a day my system returned to a better balance. it did not affect my blood pressure.

for keeping blood pressure down for me, water did not affect it. But changes in exercise, and changes in food, made the biggest difference in bringing down blood pressure for me.

If you want to find a formula do what I did...take the time to Google it. There are several out there. Find the one that works for you.

Yeah, I'm super well hydrated, and it doesn't affect my BP at all. On average I drink over 90oz a day. But I live in high desert and I do a lot of cardio.

I had a read awhile ago that being hydrated can raise you BP and dehydrated can lower it - but it's not like I would dehydrate myself to bring my BP down.

I asked where you got that formula. Will provide the source, or not?

Staying hydrated is supposed to reduce stroke risk as well, believe it or not. Anything that thins the blood.

Just something some of you may want to keep in mind.

By the way, the formula I found and found reasonable was to multiply your weight X .67, and that equals the amount of water you should drink (under normal circumstances) to keep hydrated.
Well, when I was first diagnosed with HTN I read up on it (books written by actual MDs specialized in the field and one quote stayed with me: 'The best diuretic is water".
