Hello from the former canuck. Had my surgery (Laminectomy..L3,L4,L5) on Aug 14th. Six in incision and 21 stapels later, am feeling somewhat better. Was in the hospital one week. Lost most of my numbness in the thigh/calf area. Can put more weight on the leg with less dependence of the cane. Pain and numbness in the foot went away completely for 3-4 days and now has returned to the middle toes. Sharp pain is sporadic on a 6-7 level. Noticed some strange feeling in my (nerves) whole body that is hard to explain. Told this to the MD at the hospital when she removed the staples. She also thought it odd. I wear hearing aids and sounds have been greatly amplified. Have to turn down the TV volume compared to before surgery. The body is more relaxed now. In reading up on the procedure, understand that some nerves may be disturbed/affected and will take time for them to regenerate somewhat to the tiny fibers that spread outwards where feeling takes place. Could be a couple of months to 1-1/2 yrs for total recovery. Anyway, do feel a 90% improvement overall. I can at least walk with a little numbness/pain which is a lot better then before. Take Acetaminophen when needed. Steve
