I have Meiners, which causes me to be dizzy and throw up. It's happening a lot lately and I think I need a specialist, but what kind? Any thoughts? Thanks

As with any disease or disorder I always suggest that you try a holistic or naturopathic practitioner first. That way you have a greater chance of fixing the problem instead of simply masking the symptoms, which is what allopathic doctors do.

I've never heard of this kind of doctor, can you tell me more.

Look in the dictionary under Voodoo.....
Seriously, you will hear this hogwash on this board all the time. Naturopaths are unlicensed quacks that "pretend" to know the "root" cause of disease, and if you just "buy" their herbs and cocktails you might be able to cure your disease.....any disease....even diseases with no known cures.....
Here is some good info on the disorder....it can be managed and an ENT or a Neurologist who specializes in the disorder is your best bet. If you are near Duke, search under Hearing Center at Duke, there are several physicians that have an interest in this area.

Yea that's what I was thinking, voodoo
Thanks for the link. I saw two ENT doctors a year ago, they said no cure. But lately it's been happening once a week, it's very frustrating. I live in Texas, I wish I was close to Duke
I would see an ENT and also see if there is a decent Naturopath in your area. Just be careful about getting ripped off by the latter... however, they can offer some good lifestyle/diet recommendations that regular doctors wouldn't. AVOID any holistic doctor that tries to make you buy a certain brand of vitamin, supplement, food, etc.
Also, when picking an ENT, try to research the docs first and find one that specializes in Menieres. They are more likely to be up-to-date in the research and have more specialized knowledge than and ENT that specializes in other disorders.

A holistic or naturopathic doctor looks at the person as an entire entity and treats them that way. They review your diet, your environmental exposure, your personal habits and sees where the PROBLEM lies. An overwhelming number of diseases and disorders are a result of poor nutritional habits. Certain medical conditions can also be cured using natural components such has herbs, which are actually, where our medicines originated. For instance, do you know that Valium was developed from Valarian root, which is a natural seditive?
I am not saying that in every case that this type of treatment can cure EVERYTHING. Obviously, if someone has a congenital valve defect in their heart, it is not going to be corrected naturopathically. However, in many, many cases (and perhaps yours), there can be some significant improvements made.
Please remember that allopathic medicine is responsible for more than 100,000 deaths every year in America alone. It would certainly be wise to explore all of the other options available to you before going that route. IMHO.
