I am experienceing heavy hair loss. Whcih doctor do I see for this? The dermatologist? or primary care?

I would start with your primary care doctor. If he/she doesn't have an idea of what's wrong - see an endocronologist for blood work and specifically thyroid tests. Hair loss can be a side effect of hypothyroidism.

Primary. He will probably do some preliminary testing and send you to the next one from there...

Always see your primary care physician first, he/she will be able to
do the intitial testing (labs etc.) for any problems and then refer you to a specialist if needed.
as for seeing a dermatologist it may not be the best choice, excessive hair loss can be a hormonal problem,so there's internal medicine/endocrinologist, best not to guess this one.
I hope you get to the bottom of what's causing this and be on your way to a speedy recovery
