Had a tendon repair..... 1st repair failed, Had a hunters rod put in. I waited 4 years to do the 2nd surgery due to my prior surgeon going ghost and leaving the state....long story short I got the surgery. The doctor performed a Palmaris Longus graft . I am 8 weeks post-op. Finger bends half way...so at a 45-55 degree angle...depending on the day... and 30 degree extension. I was told my outcome for this surgery would be 50 percent or less.... I am doing better than the doctors hoped. The only issue now is I have a PIP contracture that is being managed with a night splint and a daily tension spring splint I use only for a short amount of time during the day. My suggestion is doing the surgery but not taking the splint off given after surgery or doing ANYTHING for 6 WEEKS that is advised by doctors. Any one in the same boat as me? Will I gain more flexion?!
