There have just been way too many stories like this across cultures and time for me not to believe in reincarnation. I don't even necessarily believe in God, the Soul, or other Metaphysical concepts (I'm a pretty logic, scientifically verfiable fact-based guy) but again, I've just heard too many stories like this not to believe that in some fashion our consciousness goes on beyond single lives (and probably goes on and on and on forever like every single speck of matter in the universe does). For some people, it goes on from one life into another so in tact that it's basically a rebirth. I'm glad the Japanese helped this former fighter pilot find peace. I'm sure it was a lot less freaky for them to deal with this sort of thing since they acknowledge this phenomona with far less hesitancy than we do.
It certainly does prove that wild stories can be reincarnated. And more than once!
