SOLANA BEACH, Calif. - Missing since the end of World War II, the original portraits of Adolf Hitler's parents have surfaced and will soon be put up for auction in Solana Beach.

The portraits of Alois and Klara Hitler could go for $100,000 or more, according to Craig Gottlieb, a WWII memorabilia expert and the man helping to put the set up for auction.

Nazi paraphernalia on the auction block, you say? It should all be destroyed, if you ask me, burned in a nice big roaring bonfire.

I know there are all kinds of people who do things for all sorts of reasons, but I cannot imagine someone wanting something like this. Ok, there are those who collect novelties, but this is just gruesome in my opinion.

WHY??? I would think that what you said would make it a lot easier to forget it happened. We need reminders....

But of course it would depend on the reasons WHY someone would buy them.

And as an aside, I have original photos of Hitler and Striechter that I got at an auction unbeknownest to me as they were stuck in some old newspapers (which is why I bought them). I show them to my students and they are like WOW.... and some afraid to even touch them. And that is more of a history lesson than that I could ever find in a book.

Hitler and the Nazis were big on burning things they found culturally inappropriate, dangerous, or distasteful. Nice to see you are keeping the spirit alive.

We have the Holocaust as as reminder, and that is more than enough.

The Holocaust is part of a story--it is not "more than enough."

If you are referring specifically to the paintings of Hitler's parents, they are not " Nazi paraphernalia". Hitler's parents were long dead before the NSDAP was formed, let alone when Hitler took power in 1933. Yes, there is a connection, but they are not actual Nazi items.
Not that I would want them hanging on my wall!
