Can you name the losers of U.S. Presidential elections? by Hejman | Online Games & Trivia by Sporcle

Rather challenging -some of these guys are only known for being the runner up.

I got 24/26 correct - missed Charles Pinckney and Alton Parker.

I'm sure most people can't even name all or most of the VPs.

No offense meant but as a History teacher even I have to say that this is a piece of useless trivia.

I couldn't get it to work, but I think I'd have missed around 5.

Got half of them right.

Off the top of my head, I could name all the losers (2nd place, that is) back through 1928 -- save 1940 (looked it up, can't believe I missed Wendell Willkie!).

So, 100 years from now John McCain and John Kerry will be utterly forgotten and unknown to all but those most interested in political history ...

I'm a pretty sharp student of American History, but who the H-E-Double L knows the middle name of Charles Pinckney?

I think it should have been limited to recalling the last names.

The middle name was "Cotesworth".

It's actually quite well known. as most histories use it to distinguish him from another Charles Pinckney of the opposite political persuasion. Cotesworth was a Federalist, the other one a DR.
