Steve, I'm not quite old enough to have lived during WWII. Close, but off by about five years. Thus, when I took the trip through the public school system, history seemed to stop around the US Civil Wars years. I don't know why, but there was little to no history taught about WWII. Plus, since I'm female, I wasn't too much into the war stuff at that age. Now, it's the human interest angle that intrigues me.
Of course, it was a time of great history in my younger years. The Vietnam Conflict....civil rights....assassinations....many, many social changes came about during my hormone years.
I was born in 1844 in western Pennsylvania. My family moved east, first to Lancaster, then to just west of Philadelphia.
Since I am female, I find that my chosen career is not welcoming to me. My family is unhappy with my decisions. Yet, I study at a school in Philadelphia, and take as much education as I am able.
Perhaps I need to journey to Europe, France may be nice, in order to achieve more.
I have a threesome (no pun intended) (all female medical) 1st..I was the first known female to practice medicine OBGYN in 1099-1179 AD; 2nd..I was the 1st female to qualify as a MD in Britain 1836-1917; 3rd I was the 1st female to qualify as a MD in the US 1821-1910. "Who are WE". Being questions towards women, thought these might be interesting. I was surprised on my discovering the Info. Steve
The second one is Elizabeth Garrett Anderson. Hummm....sounds like a Scot name, but she was born in London.
I'll be back..spoken with my Arnold voice.
