I go fishing out in that area usually a few times every year. It is beautiful area of coastal Georgia. Was reading this link on the island just a bit ago New Georgia Encyclopedia: Blackbeard Island , and it talks about a the island was used as a quarantine station. The peak of the island's activity as a quarantine station was reached in 1900. I had no idea it was ever used for a quarantine station. I have always known that it was supposed place where Blackbeard the Pirate buried his treasure. Great tarpon fishing around there.

I've been on 49 islands, but that's not one of them.

I've been to Ocracoke island, his fight with Maynard in which he was killed was in the inlet there.

I dunno, I don't fish. But there are miles and miles and miles of beach there on both the ocean and sound fronts.

Lots of good places to eat fish though. And surprisingly the best Thai restaurant I've been to and I lived by Argyle Street in Chicago, a neighborhood with several excellent Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese joints.

I have been in that general area.

Very pretty, and has a feeling of the deep south.
