I admit I don't know as much about U.S. and world history as I should, so I'm asking all the experts here what some good books are on these topics? Honeslty, I don't even know where to start or what questions to ask pertaining to books on history. If you all were wanting to buy some books on the basics of U.S. and world history, what would those books be?
For world history I would say "Europe: A History" by Norman Davies...not a "stuffy" history book just filled with dates and places. I re-read sections of this book all the time. It gives a very good over view and can lead you into exploring people and events that strike your interest.
