I love sewing, and the idea of quilting, but I'm basically too lazy for the detail work. I make what I call Lazy Mom quilts. I do basic strip patterns, back it with fleece, and either string-tie or stitch in the ditch (is that what you call it?) to hold the two layers together. I live in the desert, so the fleece makes it plenty warm, without batting - a little less expensive, too. Joann Fabrics has great coupons, especially Black Friday weekend. I tried to attach a picture of a simple quilt I did - not sure if it worked. It took just a few days to make, and my grandson plays on it everyday. Give it a try!
Very cute Mama ... reminds me of one my friend made in those colors for her grandkids. She made it a checkerboard, and made the round "checkers" like potholders (red on one side/ black on the other) .... and they love to play checkers on it. Too cute !
Thanks, Quilter. That's my grandson's race car blanket. The checkers idea sounds really cute. When I make blankets for the grandbabies, I tell their parents, I want to see the blankets worn out! Use them, play with them, enjoy them. I can always make another.

I agree! Quilts should be loved and used to death! And it gives us quilters an excuse to keep making more, more, more
All you quilters, you more advanced quilters probably already know about this, should check out the National Quilt Museum in Paducah, Ky. Quilt museum Kentucky, Paducah Kentucky Tourism, Quilting Kentucky I've seen some amazing quilts in here. I think it's in April they have the International Quilt Show, attended by thousands of quilters from around the world.
QuilterChick, I saw you're in NC so you'd have 4 lane all the way here. From Asheville it's I-40 to Nashville, Tn., and then I-24 straight to Paducah. Exit 11 will take you right to the Museum.
