Hi there,

I have an avocado tree that I grew from a seed about 4-5 years ago. He is pretty big at this point. Probably 5 foot tall? But as you can see in this picture he is really skinny...and only has a few leaves on the top. I hear avocado trees should be bushier. I am about to repot him in a bigger pot and wondering if I should cut him so he grows bushier...and if so where should I cut?

Also, should I drill a hole in the bottom of the pot? Is that necessary?

Any help would be great thanks.

They are trees, not bushes... The pot may be too small, the roots may be bound, no place to grow. We had Avocado trees in Miami, 30 feet tall, and bottom limbs 6 to 8 feet off the ground, no pruning. It's looking for sunlight, that's why it's growing towards the window...
