My friend just started making pillows.
Then she pit them on Facebook to show them.
Now she has people actually ordering them.
I just got mine - custom made size, fabrics, and she warranties them...4 for $70.
I mean they are great.
She has made almost $1000 in 3 weeks of her random hobby.

Was that the total amount she took in or her profit?
Find out what others want/need and fill that need. I met a woman last year that teaches art classes at the local community center. She loves drawing and teaching children so she does that. I talked to her several times after class as we helped her straighten up the room and put away her supplies and I didn't get the impression that she enjoyed it as much as she did when she was teaching art as a freelancer. There is a big difference between doing something you love for your own enjoyment and having to comply with the restrictions/regulations, etc. involved in "setting up shop."
There is an old adage about "Do what you love and you'll never work a day in your life."
We do storage unit auctions. You have to be real careful, since what you see on TV is not reality, and you can get caught up in the bidding and overpay. You are not going to find a 1940's sidecar motorcycle, for example. And on Texas storage wars, they gave a real stupid value for a rhinestone covered bra, hundreds over the $25 it was really worth.
I saw someone pay $500 for two old bikes and a cheap dresser, when the bikes had a wholesale value of $50 each, $10 for the dresser.
