I like reading the news and learning ways to make $$. I don't like to tell people this because I don't want them to think I'm greedy or money hungry. Also don't want them giving me unsolicited advice, so I just tell them I like to read. But just wondering, would investing count as a hobby?

Investing is absolutely a hobby. I do it not to be greedy as I have what I need already. I don't care to upgrade to a larger house, or buy a fancier car, or show off. I like investing because I like participating in the game.
