Rangers have potential to be scary good. My Hurricanes had an exciting win tonight against Montreal.

my predictions:

Atlantic:
1) Tampa
2) Toronto
3) Montreal
4) Florida*
5) Boston
6) Buffalo
7) Detroit
8) Ottawa

Metropolitan:
1) Washington
2) Islanders
3) Pittsburgh
4) Carolina*
5) Rangers
6) Devils
7) Columbus
8) Philadelphia

First round:
Tampa in 4 over Florida
Montreal in 7 over Toronto (how fun would that series be??)
Washington over Carolina in 6
Pittsburgh in 6 over the Islanders

Semifinals:
Tampa over Montreal in 5
Pittsburgh in 7 over Washington

ECF:
Tampa over Pittsburgh in 6

2018 East playoff team most likely to miss the playoffs in 2019: Columbus.
The Metropolitan is always a tough division, and the non playoff teams in the Atlantic got better. Plus, I really didn't like Torts going off the other day.

2018 team that missed the playoffs most likely to make the playoffs: Florida.
Montreal will be the easy choice, so I'll take the slightly more difficult choice from the same division: The Panthers. Now, I don't like the Bob contract from a long-term perspective, but from a short term, 2 or 3 year perspective it's a good deal. Bob will give the Panthers stability at the position and now I don't think they'll crack the top 3, I think Bob steals enough games to bank enough points to hold off the Bruins and an improved Rangers squad for the final Wildcard spot.

Central:
1) Predators
2) Stars
3) Blues
4) Blackhawks
5) Wild
6) Avs
7) Jets

Pacific:
1) VGK
2) Flames
3) Sharks
4) Coyotes*
5) Canucks*
6) Kings
7) Oilers
8) Ducks

First round:
Preds over the Canucks in 5
VGK over the 'Yotes in 4
Sharks over Flames in 6
Stars over Blues in 7

Semifinals:
Stars over Preds in 6
VGK over Sharks in 6

WCF:
Stars over VGK in 7

Stanley Cup:
Tampa gets their first cup since 2004 and continues Dallas's championship misery as the Lightning beat the Stars in 6 games

2018 team that missed the playoffs most likely to make the playoffs: Arizona
They were in contention pretty much until the final couple of weeks for a playoff spot last year, finishing only 4 points back of the final playoff spot, I think they get that playoff spot this year.

Team that made the playoff most likely to miss the playoffs: Winnipeg.
They got decimated in the off season, and yes they still have Laine and they can say how they are still going to compete and still believe in them as a playoff team, but that's just too much that they have to replace.

Good luck everyone!

Canes have won their first 3 games (a first since the move from Hartford). All have been come from behind wins and all the winning goals have been scored by blue-liners. Not bad.

Sabres are looking pretty good so far. Currently 3-0-1 and sitting in 1st place in a very tough Atlantic Division. Hopefully they've finally turned a corner and playing up to their potential.

What the heck is going on in Dallas! Disgusting, considering all those "star" players and big contracts.

And Florida stumbling...again.

And New Jersey.

I wonder which can realistically make the playoffs.

Dallas struggled last season IIRC but got hot down the stretch.

Florida, this might be it for Dale Tallon. He's been their GM since 2010 and they have 2 playoff appearances.

New Jersey just needs some time, and probably a new coach.

NJ will be fine. They just need time. Once they get it going, they'll be a powerhouse for sure.

I hate to jinx them but the 1st place overall Sabres are looking quite dangerous at 8-1-1. I'll reserve my excitement for now especially after the epic collapse last season after the 10 game win streak.
