I figured this was coming. Now it's official.

Detroit Red Wings - News: Hasek, Wings at peace with deicision - 06/09/2008 (http://redwings.nhl.com/team/app/?service=page&page=NewsPage&articleid=365523 - broken link)

Well, he's going out a winner, even if he did finish the postseason on the bench. He was a temperamental guy but one of the great goalies I've seen play. Loved his unorthodox style ... whenever I think of him, I think back to that MasterCard commercial when he was with Buffalo, and the line for Dom was something like "a goalie with a Slinky for a spine ... priceless."

Thanks for the memories, Dom. Future Hall of Famer for sure.

Dom was defenitaley one of the best. He played big in goal yet he looks so slim without his goalie gear. I'll alway remember the scuffle with Patrick Roy in 2002 when Hasek tripped going in to fight Roy. And of course his domiant play. I believe he set a record for most shut-outs in a post-season with 6.

He does look really scrawny out of his pads. It's crazy.

This is my other lasting memory of Dom ... the day he flipped Marian Gaborik. Classic!

May be a flopper, but one of my favourite goalies.
