I could certainly see the wood paneling as part of a room decor but not for the entire room, regardless of size or the amount of natural light. I do like the paneling in combination with painted walls. Overall, not my favorite at all though.

Thanks a lot, most ppl here seem to misunderstand my post

I think textured wallpaper would look cheap and fake, but that's just me.

If you want the wood look, then yes.
Wood panels, tiles, or veneer should be your choice.

However I believe that the walls on your picture are covered with grass cloth wallpaper

Hmm, doesn't it feel somewhat cold with tiles in a living room? In my mind tiles are for kitchen and bathroom.

But those tiles look great, I'll give you that.

OP, post some real pics, and I will be glad to give you some real advice.
Because she was showing an example of what she wanted the room to look like when it was done . She wants to know what that material is on the walls.

Anyone here toured the Queen Mary in Long Beach harbor? The photo looks very much like the rooms on board. The ship was built in the 1930's and is Art Deco. I personally love the look. If the OP did it in real wood I think it would be a very interesting room.

Wood panels are exquisite expressions of beauty that will undoubtedly become the centerpiece of any room they grace. Hand carved wood panels is pretty well for any room to decorate.
