We recently moved into our house, in which the den has red brick flooring. It appears as though the previous owners put a sealant of some sort on the floor before cleaning the grout & it looks horrible!
I'm absolutely clueless what to do.
Is perhaps painting the floor a possibility??
On a different forum, I posted this same question & was advised to cover it with a large area rug or put carpeting over it...
I'd rather fix it opposed to covering it up, as I like the flooring, just not the color & especially the stained grout.
As for carpeting, that simply isn't an option at this point. Below is a picture. Thanks in advance for any helpful info

Is this a converted porch?
Or did some idjit intentionally choose brick for an indoor floor?

I would hope so. (About 1/4" of polyurethane comes to mind)

I like that idea too.

mu neighbor had a brick floor in the kitchen and den. it was beautiful. I don't see any pictures either. my only suggestion would be to call a brick layer/contractor and see if they can figure out how to clean it
