Good luck. I love Craigslist. I just bought a solid wood king canopy bed for a song. I actually found it online and it retailed for 1900 bucks. I paid 400.
OOOH Good Luck! I can't tell you how many times I've "lost" deals on CL because even though I told them I'd be there to buy it at such-and-such time that afternoon, they sold it to someone else first. I guess it's first-come first-served, but not when they tell me they'll hold it til I get there!
We're all rooting for you!!!! And them OF COURSE you'll have to post pix of everything when you bring it home, and as you fix it up to your taste!
Seems to me there ought to be some sort of "Craig's List Etiquette" for that. Oh, I guess that's called common consideration.
I have told buyers I will wait until X o'clock (whatever they tell me) but no longer, then take names for a "waiting list." Works out well for me, except for the jerk who called me repeatedly saying, "I'm ready to come buy right now" when I told him I was holding it for the first caller.
If you plan on reselling those items later you might want to make changes that can be undone. For instance, you could cover the mirror on the back of the cabinets with a thin slice of veneer wood.
Here's the update. I decided not to buy it. Instead I'm getting a new table and 8 chairs on sale for 2k. It's a beautiful set. I've been visiting it a few times over the past month or so. When I went to see the set that inspired this thread, I couldn't see myself parting with 1.5k for something that needed so many changes when all I really liked was the chairs. What I love about the new set I'm buying is it's a very long table that is a solid piece without leaves. 3 chairs fit comfortably on each side without an extension. I always hated those cracks in the middle of tables.

Thanks for update. It sounds like you did your research and came up with what works for you.
Gorgeous. Hope you are buying the set. You could stain or distress paint that it would look lovely either way.
EDIT. I see you didn't buy that set. Would love to see pics of the one you decided on.

so glad you found just the right one. Post pics soon!!
^^ Agreed. Unless you're an expert with tools, it's going to be difficult to cut tile or pieces of plywood to fit those spaces perfectly. Better to just find something you like from the get go.
I believe this is Stanley. That is a classic Stanley leg. A couple of makers (Kincaid being one) have made slightly lower end similar lines. Probably a line just before the country cottage living line from 10 years ago. If this is Stanley, just keep the value in mind when making changes.
