I'm moving to a new apartment and there are some windows there I find hard knowing which curtains and what style fits the best. The reason I find it hard is because one of two windows are all the way on the corner of the room. I usually go for this style (nr 2). But it seems like I'll have to use style nr 1 where I am, and I really dont want that, as you can see it doesn't look good.
Here's the picture of the windows I talk about (disregard the furniture, not mine). I'm talking about the window all the way in the left corner behind the TV.
Anyone have a solution or an example of what I might do?
I am a little confused by your post. I am not sure why you think you can't use picture 2 over picture 1. I grant you that you will have an "unbalanced" look but, your window placement is what it is and no matter what is placed on them they will be left side heavy.
Can you put up a pretty roman shade? It will soften the hardness of the room and filter out the light.
I see your dilemma. I think nuts2 solution is good. Perhaps I would treat the pair of windows and the separate window separately, instead of the same way. Put Roman shades, or shutters, on the pair of windows, and drapes in the same material on the single window. Nothing flashy, just a natural linen, maybe.
I think roman shades are the answer here, not sure about having shades on 2 windows and drapes right next to them. For a clean look maybe roman shades on all windows. If you are looking for more height or the illusion of it you could always install some plain valances above.
Another option - Mount the curtain rods like example #2, hang bamboo roman shades even with the curtain rods, add floor length curtains using clip rings on both sides of both windows
Hanging the bamboo roman shades even with the rod will allow more light and will make the window appear larger. Nuts2uiam is right though. It's going to look unbalanced with curtains. If that's going to bother you, I'd just go with inside mounted fabric roman shades.
What you COULD do is treat the whole wall as a window with drapes floor to ceiling. I will have to figure out how to post what I'm talking about because I can't seem to describe it well.
