I don't see a magazine forum so i'll try this here...

I recently bought a very old home, which has not been kept up. Where it WAS fixed up, it was not done in any decent manner as far as either keeping with the decor of the age, or modernizing it.

I don't have to have everything matchy-matchy, but i want to fix up and do SOME things that fit with the age.

I see two magazines that look interesting - "This Old House," and "Old House Journal."

Does anyone read either of these? I don't really need a "renovation" magazine so whichever one leans less toward that.

Thanks.

Out of those two...

Old House Journal

It's directed more toward the period/historical significant homes. TOH has a more general approach/appeal to any period home.

I agree. I used to subscribe. It leans heavily Victorian and Craftsman.

There is a Facebook page called For the Love of Old Houses that just shows historic homes for sale in all regions of the country in all states of disrepair or renovated, with interior photos. You can get lots of ideas there.

You should also be able to just do an internet search for the time period of your home and then look at images.
