I am an interior design student looking to upgrade my computer because AutoCad, SketchUp, and Revit are slowing it down, causing it to freeze consistently.
My current laptop has a 17.3" screen and I am looking to downsize. I am in between getting a 13.3" or a 15.6" screen. I like the idea of getting the 13.3" because it would be super light and easy to transport, but I worry about how it would be to design with that small of a screen.
Heh. I moved up from a 15" screen to a 17.3 to do AutoCAD and Revit work. The menus take up too much room and the fonts were getting too small. I tried a Surface Pro 4 but it was still too small for me. So I went back to a dual monitor setup with a 27" monitor for my primary and left the laptop doing the browser and email client.
Autocad is very computationally and memory intensive so "freezing" may be a symptom of inadequate resources. Or you may have issues with display drivers, etc.
For CAD there is really no replacement for a pretty big screen with high resolution.
I have used Autodesk products some years ago. I still have nightmares.

Hoping to get some feedback before purchasing.
Thanks!
That's not a screen problem- that's a "computer" problem! You need a better mother board, ram, graphics card, and hard-drive. The screen is only limited by the work that is displayed and your vision. Obviously, the bigger the screen the more you can see at any given time.

Yes, I am planning on getting a computer with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD with an i7 4 core processor to make it run faster. I am also getting one with a dedicated graphics card. However, I haven't designed on a screen smaller than mine. I am trying to see if getting a smaller screen will be a nuisance or not.
