This paneling was put up over beadboard..... it was just awful...once the paneling came of I discovered that they had put in new windows which left horrible gaps here and there, ( I installed larger window trims, to compensate) They had never primed the beadboard before painting, etc. I would put in some before and after shots, but don't know how to do it on this forum. It took a lot of time, but was well worth the effort. Depending on the house, you never know what's behind the paneling until you look.

You can also fill in all the grooves with joint compound. Give it time to dry thoroughly, sand lightly as needed, and then paint over it. We used this method and it worked well. You can hardly tell there was ever paneling.

No way I was ripping out solid oak built-ins and trim just to get white walls, lol.

Love your room. Painting wood paneling gives its a bead board look. Very country.

BEWARE!!!! When i pulled mine down, they had used gallons and gallons of glue, which was a real nightmare, paneling was coming off in small pieces, and then to my horror, it appeared the person the hung the paneling had let someone decorate the walls with crayon before hand, I took the easy way out and just did a heavy knockdown texture on the walls and lots of primer and paint!!!! pic to follow when i get home to my other computer!!
