I think that it depends on the faux artist. I have worked along with incredible faux artists that create miraculous things. Leonard Pardon's work can be quite amazing as is other lesser known faux artists.
In the end, most insurance companies have pretty low limits on lifetime psychiatric care, so the Stickley altar would probably cost you about the same and could double as a buffet table when one 'entertains'.
So go for the good furniture when you can.
As horribly cheesy as it is, there's something compelling about the Utah home's indoor grotto pool with multiple waterfalls.
LOL....... faux people...carpool lane. Y'all are great! hehe..... So, are faux people the same as "phauxny" people? Cuz yeah, I hate "phauxny" people. Keep it real.

Funny--this sort of came up at work the other night. Someone asked what was in the box that made it so heavy to pick up.
I replied, "Shelves--pressboard, fake shelves. You think it's heavy now, you should see what happens when that stuff gets wet."
Not only does it start absorbing the water, making it heavier, it starts falling apart. Real wood shelves, as long as they don't get dried out, are much better.
This reminds me of the fad for "antique-ing" furniture in the '70's. I remember my mom hunting down furniture in antique shops and flea markets so that she could "antique" it. Ugh! She regrets it now...
I'm completely with you on this one. I hate faux anything including paint.
