Does anyone know the gas mileage for a 1988-91 Civic sedan with auto. trans?
I would think it can get about 34 mpg on the highway.

Thanks

Eh. It's not that great on gas mileage since it's an automatic 4-speed. What year specifically is the car? Does it have a 1.5 L or 1.6 L engine? For example:

1988 Honda Civic
4 cyl, 1.5 L, Automatic (4 sp), Regular 23 city/29 highway

I had a 90 Civic hatchback, but it was a manual, which helped on the mileage. Id get 30-32 mpg on the highway and almost equal that in the city. The 5th gear was geared a bit too short for highway cruising, which hurt it a bit. Had Honda used a taller 5th gear, I wouldnt doubt that car would get 35 mpg on the highway.

Hey y'all,

Just wanted to update anyone who might be interested.. I have the 89 Civic DX sedan with auto. transmission that has approx 104,000 original miles on it. Well, I recently took a roadtrip and logged about 1000 miles in one weekend, and the average mpg was 35, which includes going up some hills in KY and TN!
My wife reluctantly went along with the idea of taking my car even though she drives an 04 Corolla with all the bells and whistles, and of course its "newer", but after taking the Civic, she's sold!

I'll try to post some photos of the car soon..
