"Dose it run? Dose it stop? Dose it have a title? If if breaks can you fix it your self?

If the answer to those questions is yes, buy it. If the answer is no, don't buy it"

If this is your first time buying a car with your own money or with a little help....

Do not rush to buy the first piece of crap car you see thats within your budget. I know how it feels, you just want a car, any car...something to drive, anything to drive...

another week goes by, and you have a little more money to add to the pot. 224k on the clock worries me just a tiny bit, but honestly not as much as the cracked windshield and an entirely different front end from a collision.

If you want it, Id offer no more than $500 and thats pushing it.

If it runs its about as beater as it gets, probably as cheap as your likely to find but i wouldnt count on it doing much more than minimal daily driving. the cracked windshield is probably something the cops will demand you replace if they spot it when they pull you over to inquire about the cars odd paint job, expect to pay close to $500 to replace the window.
Depending on what kind of driving you plan on doing it might be cheap transport, seems a lot of issues have been fixed or replaced. I'd offer a take it or leave it $500

Yeah, I almost said pass on it, but with a bit of tech skill and tools, it can be kept alive. I have to agree with jambo101 though - no more than $500. Under DIY repairs condition, if not - don't buy it.

Will cops really pull you over for the odd paint job? What if you don't comply with replacing the cracked windshield because it's too expensive?

Not illegal to have an odd paint job but it will draw attention.
If you don't comply, I imagine a bench warrant for arrest would be issued. Windshields start at maybe $150, so not THAT expensive.

And, what Me007 has been telling you. Beaters with high miles tend to need ongoing repairs. I know because I have owned quite a few.... Which can get awfully pricey if you have to rely on a shop for every repair; a cracked windshield would be the least of your worries.

A 1992 Honda in Michigan? That looks to be two Honda clips spliced together? That has over 224K on the odometer?

Only buy this car if you want to throw your money away. If it doesn't break apart where they welded the two halves together, then that fine Michigan road salt will probably dissolve this rolling heap of Honda scraps by next April.

Oh, I missed that this is a rust belt car. (I'm in Michigan.)

Absolutely that is an added concern. Rust is not only cosmetic; it kills cars early and older Asian models were not well-protected against rust. A few months ago I developed a pinhole leak in a brake line of my old Nissan truck with almost 300K and it cost $370 or so to replace them at a shop.
