And the sad thing was people honestly believed the Passport had better reliability than the Rodeo.

Note passports cost almost $4k more than rodeos back then, all you got was more attractive wheel arch moldings and a better dealer network. The warranty was actually shorter.
If the new Passport had been around in 2015 when I settled for a Subaru Forester, I'd definitely have considered it. The Pilot was too big (and had lousy reviews), and the 2015 CRV was incredibly cramped in front, and had lost cargo space by having the rear window tilt inward. That hasn't changed, as far as I can tell. Aside from owning the Forester I've been a Honda person every since my first car. I'm thinking of trading the Forester in within the next few years, and I'll keep an eye on the 2021 Passport, hoping they've seen the light by then and have gone back to a more boxy look. If I could get a 2005-style CRV (like I used to drive) with updated electronics and AWD, that's what I'd want. It's still the nicest-looking small SUV on the road.
Anyway, if anyone here test drives/buys a 2019 Passport, please come back with a report!

so i happen to see a honda passport on the road today and i had never heard of it before.
it looks like it may be a good fit for me. my current and previous cars have been the subaru forester. i am satisfied with it but i want a more powerful engine. i dont want anything fancy and i dont need any options. just a basic small suv with awd and some more power. its 8 inches longer than my forester which is a negative but its also about 4 inches higher which is good. it looked fine to me, i dont really care what it looks like.
im going to take it for a test drive and see how i like it.
Yep. Minivans with hinged rear doors for people who don't want the stigma of driving a minivan. Honda is hardly the only car company with crossovers like that.
I'm not sure what market the Passport addresses. It's not a people hauler. It's not at all an off-roader. It gets mediocre fuel economy.
