I know about the colors.... I have a raincoat, cream color, that I usually wash without problem. Except that (where was my head?) I forgot to check the pockets and there were some BLACK napkins. So now the coat has big blue/green stains.

I let it soak 2 nights in pre-wash detergent (special tough stains), then washed it twice, maybe they are not as strong as before, but I can't wear it.

Would anyone know of a remedy, or a very good dry cleaner?

Thanks for any idea.

Rit has a "color remover". I friends daughter had a white shirt. The mom had by mistake washed a red sock that turned her daughters shirt pink (which she HATED!). I suggested Rit and it worked. Now I recently tried to remove dye from my daughters green curtains. She had changed her mind to how she wanted to decorate her room. I used plenty enough Rit color remover and used it correctly. However, it only faded the green. I think the curtains must have been set by the manufacturers and was not coming off, even with bleach! If you are ready to through away your rain coat, try Rit first. You can find it at Joann's Fabric or maybe even the supermarket. Good luck!

P.S. I sure hope you did not dry it. Drying it in the drier, will only set the color stain in.

Oh... that's what I need! In France there is a special product for that kind of mistake (it happens), but I didn't bring any . I went to several supermarkets, Lowes etc... they couldn't recommend me anything else than pre-wash product.

Can you tell me where to find it and how to use it? I don't have a private washer in my apartment. And NO , I didn't dry it. I usually dry only sheets and towels, nothing more delicate.

Like I said before, you could probably find it at Joann Fabric Store or in Publix or Sweetbay. Maybe Walmart. I don't remember the directions, but I think they have washing machine directions as well as stove top. I would use whatever washing machine you have available.

store locator | Joann.com. This is Joann Fabric store locator. Scroll down the the town/city you live (Tampa, Brandon, St. Pete, etc). There are many stores throughout Tampa. Maybe call ahead and see if they carry Rit Color Remover before heading out to the store.

Sorry, I didn't notice Joann fabrics. I will have a look there and will call before. There was not in Publix, Sweetbay or Walmart. I thought about Michaels, but at Lowes, they told me I wouldn't find anything there, so I didn't go.

And NO, I am not ready to throw it away, but I would never use bleach (I never do). I can try on a hidden part.

Thank you

Yipee... Yipee . Thanks Annaegel.

I found it, first attempt very light, the fabric was not damaged. Second stronger attempt, I can wear it . There is still a slight shade of blue, I will need to retouch it, just on those spots.

I also found there a product to fix colors... interesting to avoid mistakes!!!
