So are there any good ways to prevent wasps from nesting under the overhangs of my home? I bought the place in the fall and removed some wasp nests when I moved in. I have recently seen wasps creating new nests in the same general areas of my home. So far I have been removing the nests as I see them, but they still come back. Any tips would be appreciated.

I've seen ads for these things you hang up that look like wasp nests! The wasps see it and supposedly go somewhere to build a nest. I see them at hardware stores and places that sell outdoorsy stuff.

It seems that many insects have some sort of cross-generation location memory that brings them back to their origin. We had an area that was previously home to wasps and another that had years of hornets. It took a number of years destroying new nests to solve the problem.

I used a power washer to blow wasp nests away. The ground hornets were more difficult but kerosene was effective in doing them in.

It is a common problem in spring they will start building nests almost always in the same places on your house every year. What i've done is get some raid wasp spray and get the nests at night, that is often when the queen is there so eliminating them and the nest at the same time will stop them from any further progress.
