I wanted to know if anyone has attempeted to paint their basement floor? I have seen many online photos done by the pros, which I am not, and they look beautiful. But has anyone actually done this? Never had a basement before, ours is finished but with commercial glued on carpeting.

Depends on how much moisture you have in your floor, and it depends the age of the floor with stains - cracks . I did a garage floor several years ago and had some minor problems of drying and places that did not get cleaned properly the coating lifted over the next several months. If you put one of those water sealers on the floor it will look nice but will be very slick even dry and extra slick if damp!!........

Thumbs up Painted concrete floor

I had a previously painted basement floor that looked terrible with as many as 3 peeling layers of old paint. I bought a product called 'UGL Latex Base DRYLOK Concrete Floor Paint' made by United Gilson Laboratories. I followed the instructions for previously painted floors. It was easy to apply and now my basement floor looks great. I now wish I had done it years ago. I bought it at Menards in Wi. I don't know if any of the other chains carry it. Maybe try United Gilsonite Laboratories - UGL.

Claire_F had posted this link on a previous thread. http://www.concretenetwork.com/interior.pdf

I have had stained concrete work done (not by the linking company) on residential and commercial work and the product looks as good as the day the contractor installed it. Moisture is a concern, but the amount of time your concrete has sat, much of the curing should be done. I've talked to home owners who have done their own. One did have a problem with peeling, the other went well.
