This may be a stupid question but what is the best way to clean moss off a roof without damaging the shingles? The vinyl siding on my house is easy as I just either pressure wash with an electric pressure washer or use an extended boat brush with a weak bleach soap mix and a hose. Of course the moss comes back in a few months. This is the shady north and northeast side of my house.

Walking back from the mailbox the other day I saw how green that section of my roof is and am wondering how I can kill/remove it. I would think using a pressure washer would lift up the shingles if sprayed on them so that doesn't sound like a good idea at all. Is there a moss killing solution such as bleach that can be put on the end of a regular hose so I can just spray it up and then let it fall down on the shingles, killing the fuzz?

You know what, I planned to clean my vinyl siding as soon as the weather warms up, and a long brush (10-12 ft) is exactly what I'm looking for. Where do you get this?

I can order from AMZ, but I'd rather 'see' the item and check if it's flimsy or not first. I made a mistake ordering something just now and when it arrived, I was surprise that it isn't more sturdy and paying return shipping isn't worth it.

I hire to get my roof washed (and gutters) when needed. Roofers here recommend low pressure wash so you have to be careful with a pressure washer. Preventing moss is usually done with a zinc solution.

Any marine supply store should have them in stock. The actual brush is separate from the stainless pole which is about 5 to 6 ft and has another inside so it can extend outward to about 10 to 12 foot.

I see. I'll look up marine supply stores then... should have some in the towns close to the coast. Thanks!

I cleaned the lower reachable areas last week. Just a dilute Simple Green spray, light scrub and rinse. Too easy. Cost was close to nothing and took 30 min (next time would take 10 min since I now know what to do). Now I just need to get to the 2nd story areas.

Zinc Strips. Eliminate roof algae, moss, lichen and mold. Clean roofs.

quality copper (not the copper plated stuff) works, also
