The aluminum siding on my mother's home requires a painting. I've done some research and it appears I have to:
(1) Power wash the dirt, mildew and chalky substance off the aluminum siding.
(2) Apply a primer coat of E-B Emulsa-Bond, an oil-based additive that is mixed with latex paint, or similar product.
(3) Apply a final coat of latex paint, either flat or satin.
I'm assuming that sanding will not be necessary since E-B Emulsa Bond will act as the bonding agent.
Over the last month, three of my mother's neighbors have had their aluminum siding painted. The painter, who painted all three homes, power washed the siding and applied a paint specifically made for aluminum siding (per one of the homeowners). The jobs look pretty good, but the siding has many shiny spots that can be seen in the sun at certain angles. The spots aren't dents.
I'm not sure what went wrong, but I'd like to avoid that outcome, if possible. I'm curious about what others have done to restore the shine on their aluminum siding.

Even done well... don't expect it to last forever.
