Recently had can lights put in my ceiling. Ceiling got a hole in a it, plus it's not a nice looking ceiling that is now accentuated by the light. Would it be possible to put the thinnest sheetrock over it and drop the cans down that 1/8 inch? Is there any play in movement/dropping them down a bit, in the working can lights in the ceiling?

Not necessary-
They can stay as they are, the springs that hold the trims in place will accept the extra pull.
Lower the can will afford you no additional benefit.
