of course there is, - but it ain't pretty or PC enough for this forum..
p.s.
In case you plan on live-trap & relocate:
if the racoons are active during daytime, they may be rabid.
They are nasty little beasts that will charge and bite without hesitation - with or without rabies.
I'd opt for the less PC alternative,
because if you do relocate them, you will simply pass your problem on to someone else. (the racoons will find another structure to live in).
You need to call a professional. Years ago, an acquaintance, who really should have known better, turned on his attic fan to try and scare one into leaving. The animal's terrified reaction was a horrendous case of diarrhea. It was a hot, humid summer in the Midwest, the resulting stench was unfathomable, and the mess defied clean-up. Again, call a professional. It's worth it.
My father, an old farm boy from Nebraska, former Marine war veteran, boxing and wrestling coach almost crapped himself and fell off a tall ladder when he tried to take on a raccoon in our attic one time and it went after him. I never saw him so terrified and flustered in my entire life as he came back down and declared under no uncertain terms would he ever face that crazed, viscous beast again.
Trust everyone here- you gotta hire a pro for this.
We had a mama raccoon in our attic one time. We threw a large handful of mothballs in there and she left with all her babies that day. They don't like that smell.
Try it before you spend several hundred $$'s for a pro.
I realize that old-school country methods are not acceptable to modern-day suburban folks who are inundated with useless laws & regulations.
That's why the principle of SSS exists.
I'll take the 5 cent solution -vs - several hundred $ for a pro..
