I sometimes have to clean around the door. Food gets where the door closes and the dishwasher never cleans there. Another thing that is good to clean is the little thing that makes the water automatically stop coming into the machine. Mine got so dirty once that is stopped working and too much water came into the washer and spilled out onto the floor. What a mess. In my washer it is a little plastic thing on the bottom left front under the bottom rack. It lifts off its place easily. It can really get gummed up with food residue.
About a cup of white vinegar in the last wash can cut most greasy deposits in the washer.
Care of the washer should be in the instructions booklet although I don't remember ever reading it.
I just googled taking care of your dishwasher and they mentioned the little holes the water comes out in the sprayer arms. I check those to make sure no food has stopped them up. I also check beside the food disposal to make sure there are no small items lodged there and the disposal is trying to grind them up. If the dishwasher gets noisy you might want to check that.
I have been using a dishwasher for more than 40 years and find they are pretty much maintenance free except around the door.
We never have to clean the washer. However once a month there is a cup of vinegar that is added to wash cycle for spotless cleaning of the dishes and the inside of the washer. Vinegar does a great job!
They are self-scrubbing except for the exterior. If there are lime deposits, I suppose vinegar once or twice a year might help, but once the racks lose their protective coating use of vinegar will promote rusting and other problems. Hot acid is HIGHLY corrosive, probably the MOST corrosive thing an average homeowner comes across.
I wash the dishes with dish soap and then put them in the dishwasher- I can't imagine anyone putting dirty dishes in there- I know that's what a dishwasher is for- I just can't do it. So to answer your question- no I have never had to scrub the dishwasher
It's been so long since I had one, but I only ever cleaned out the filter at the bottom.
